Week7 EOC: Survey Questions

In this survey we are finding out which location is preferred over another in for Patty’s Closet. We are also trying to find out why they like Patty’s Closet and how this relates to how often they visit the store. We want to know if Patty’s Closet would benefit from opening a new store in a different part of town. Also seeing if their social networking is working and which forum of marketing is working the best for them. I think that people do not visit the store as often as they can, and that this is due in part of their locations. Also I think that their efforts on FaceBook have been paying off, but can be done more often to bring more traffic in to the stores. Also they have recently stopped posting videos and I think that it would benefit them to start making them again.

Week 7 EOC: Tax Cuts

The poll on cutting taxes was set up very poorly. This question was set up to make the consumer believe that if they answered to expire the tax cuts that their own taxes would be raised. In fact the tax cuts were not for the average middle class American. The tax cuts where for upper class Americans not for middle class Americans in which the poll comes across. Knowing that the average person would say no to end tax cuts they set up the question in their favor. Since no person wants to say no to ending tax cuts and having to pay more taxes and majority of the people wanted the cuts to continue. Making sure that your questions are set up so that people know exactly what they are answering is key when making up questions. If the average American knew that the tax cuts where for the wealthy I highly doubt that they would want them to continue. Also if a scale was used it would get a better idea of how Nevadans feel about tax cuts. Just using a simple yes and no answer people are forced to choose an answer that they may not have strong feelings about in the first place. The question also makes you think that the cats where successful when they were in fact it was not. If feel if the people being polled had more background information on the topic that they would feel different about it.

Wee 6 BOC: Fixing CSN With Market Research

The education dilemma at CSN may be helped solved by some market research. One of the many things they need to find out is why students are attending their school, which will be the hypothesis. This could be done by doing a quick survey. To get as many responses for the survey it should be incorporated in to a class for a grade. Also it should be given to students that are applying to the school. So far it sounds as if most students are only taking a couple of classes with no direction in to their future and they plan on doing. By doing a survey the school can have more insight on why students are attending CSN. Also finding out if they are getting finical aid will be a main pint of the survey. The students may just be attending since they are able to attend the school for free through grants and other means of final aid. Also the school needs to have some type of admissions process. This would help to weed out the students that are far from serious about going to school. If seems as if most students have no goals and are just going to CSN to say that they are in college. The school needs to find out what why so many people are drawn to it, but so few end up getting a degree. They need to follow up a lot more what thier students are doing and and what they expect form the school.

Week 5 EOC: Privacy? Is there such a thing as online privacy now a days?

Have you ever wondered why certain ads come up when you are on the internet? Well believe it or not every time we visit a website we are being tracked, and our information is being added to build up a portfolio of who they think we are. Based on the information they receive about us then they put out certain ads. Even something as small as looking up baby clothes can make them think that you have children yourself, when in fact you are just looking for a baby shower gift. Surprising social sights can be more protected then just surfing the net. This in due in part of the privacy setting that can be applied to the page. “In social networks, people can increase their defenses against identification by adopting tight privacy controls on information in personal profiles. Yet an individual’s actions, researchers say, are rarely enough to protect privacy in the interconnected world of the Internet.(http://www.nytimes.com/2010/03/17/technology/17privacy.html) In today’s world the internet is used even more than before. People are fast to give up private information that they would never give away in person. They have a relaxed mindset when it comes to the internet as opposed to over the phone or face to face transactions, when they should be at a higher sense of worry.
